Shipbuilder: Lockwood Brodrick, South Shields (1729 - 1784)

Shipbuilder: Ann Brodrick, South Shields (17xx - ?)

Shipbuilder: Lockwood Brodrick, South Shields (1766 - 1802)

The Brodricks (also seen as Brodericks) originally came from Whitby and the first name of Lockwood was borne by three generations
The first Lockwood Brodrick would appear to have been a seafarer and probably a shipowner
1729
Lockwood (II) born

At some stage he became the owner of the Low Dock at South Shields where he carried out both shipbuilding & shiprepair. See HERE for the location of the Low Dock
24/01/1784 Lockwood Brodrick, "eminent shipbuilder" died
31/01/1784

"Ann Brodrick, wife of the late Lockwood Brodrick of South Shields, respectively informs the friends of her husband that the business of shipbuilding and of the dock will be carried on as usual"
1787

Lockwood (III) becomes of age and takes over the management of the Low Dock with his step brother James Craster. However the official shipbuilder's name would still appear to be Ann Brodrick
15/08/1802
Lockwood Brodrick (III) died at South Shields
1803 James Craster takes over the management of the Low Dock
