Shipbuilder: Edward Mosley, Howdon (1783 - 1799)

Shipbuilder: Edward Mosley, North Shields (1772 - 1799)

Edward Mosley was a partner in a business group of prominent Newcastle citizens, which included Francis Hurry and Thomas Airey. They were all significant coal merchants, ship owners and shipbuilders. Their joint names appear together in the Port Registers from 1786, although not always in the same order. It is likely therefore that ships attributed to Mosley & Airey were actually constructed at Hurry's premises at Howdon & North Shields. See the section on Hurry for more details.
